This tutorial shows how to edit text properties and style using the Joomla WYSIWYG editor. The Joomla editor is used to format text in Joomla (articles, K2 items, categories description etc).

The editor can be enabled in Joomla administration panel > Global Configuration. In the Site settings block use the Default editor select box to select the WYSIWYG editor or disable it. Depending on your version of Joomla you can have different editors available.

Please note: we highly recommend you to disable the editor while working with the Custom HTML modules in Joomla as the editor can damage the module code.

OK, now we have selected the editor and can proceed to the articles editing. From the Joomla admin panel top menu select Content > Articles Manager (for Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.6) or Components > K2 > Items (Joomla 1.7 or later). select the article/item you want to edit and click on it’s title in the articles list.

As you can see the article content box has various editing options and formatting buttons above the text.

You can use these options to format the article content the way you need.

Feel free to check the detailed video tutorial below on how to work with WYSIWYG editor in Joomla.
