This tutorial shows how to assign specific layout for a category in Magento store.

Magento. How to assign specific layout for a category

In case you’d like to have one category page with a different layout comparing to others, then perform the following steps to achieve it:

  1. Navigate to Catalog> Manage Categories section:

  2. Locate the category you need to apply changes for and open it. Go to Custom Design> Page Layout under the available tabs. Drop-down list with predefined layouts shows up. Select the required one from there:

  3. Save changes using ‘Save Category’ button.

  4. Get back to the site to refresh the category page. Modifications will apply and affect only one selected category.

Note: in case you don’t see the changes at once, clear cache and reindex data.
