Checking for a web server

Our website templates (FLASH site, FLASH animated, Dynamic FLASH, Dynamic SWiSH, Full Site, Full Package, Stretched, CSS, SWiSH) are all built in basic HTML or in FLASH technology, so they will work with any hosting company, and they can be easily setup by anyone.
Our OsCommerce Templates, however, including CRE Loaded, Zen Cart, PHP-Nuke, PhpBB engine and should be hosted on a web server with some additional requirements. Please, check the full list of the required features needed for each category below:

OsCommerce Templates:
OsCommerce can be installed at any server that has installed PHP and has access to the MySQL database server. This include any shared servers, dedicated servers, or even locally on any computer that uses Linux, Unix, BSD, Mac OS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Great care has been taken to ensure the following:

• • OsCommerce runs on all the PHP versions from 4.1 to the latest versions while at the same time taking advantage of new PHP features introduced since the PHP 4.1 series and remaining compatible with all 4.1+ versions;
  • OsCommerce runs on all PHP enabled web servers, in both module and CGI based installations, on nearly all operating systems;
  • OsCommerce runs on most server specific configurations ranging from dedicated servers to shared servers that utilise different PHP configurations such as "register_globals" and "safe_mode" restrictions.

So, your server should be able to support the powerful PHP web scripting language, as well as the fast MySQL database, and use a stable and fast Apache web server to run an OsCommerce web site.

Zen Cart:
Minimum suggested server requirements: PHP 4.3.2 or higher (PHP 4.4.x for most advantageous performance), Apache 1.3.x and MySQL 3.2.x or higher. Register_Globals may be on or off, but safe_mode is recommended to be “Off”.

Note: Many shipping and payment modules require URL to be installed / compiled with PHP.

Note: Support of HTTPS may be required depending on the payment methods accepted. The use of SSL protocol while creating the account and proceeding checkout is highly recommended. PHP 5 is not officially supported by Zen Cart at the present time; however, many shop owners are successfully running their shops on servers using PHP5.

MySQL 4.1.x uses an encryption scheme that is not completely supported by PHP4, so may not work with Zen Cart unless you are using PHP5 ... which is of course not officially supported by Zen Cart yet. Please, check some hosting provider certified by Zen Cart (TM):

Wordpress:
To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:
PHP version 4.2 or higher
MySQL version 3.23.23 or higher
We recommend Apache as the most robust and well-featured server for running WordPress, but any server that supports PHP and MySQL will do. Having said that, we can’t test every possible environment and every one the web hosts. Almost any host that meets these listed requirements will have no problems.

PHP-Nuke:
To be able to use PHP-Nuke you need an SQL database server (highly tested on MySQL), Apache Web server and PHP version 4.x installed and running. PHP-Nuke runs well on the following Operating Systems:
Linux
Any Unix version
OS/2
Any Windows version
Mac OS
FreeBSD

phpBB:
Installation of phpBB2 requires the following:
A web server or web hosting account running on any major Operating System.
An SQL database system, one of:
MySQL (3.22 or higher)
Postgre SQL 7.0.3 (the world's most advanced open source database) or higher (preferably, 7.1.x or 7.2.x)
MS SQL Server (7 or 2000) directly or via ODBC
MS Access (2000 or XP) via ODBC
PHP (4.0.3 and above) with support for the database that you intend to use above
