Absolute Freedom with the GPL 3.0 License

With Monstroid 2, you are free from any of the restrictions of a single-site license. We've released the theme as a 100% GPL product to let you use it for unlimited projects. You can edit its source code, install it on multiple domains, and do anything you want. The theme is all yours. Monstroid 2 is the largest of all GPL WordPress themes out there.

Stress-Free Installation on Any Server

Let’s start with the installation of Monstroid 2. You can install the theme with TM Wizard. It's a simple but powerful tool for users having various WordPress skills. On the Wizard page, you will see ten skins.

multifunctional WordPress theme

Choose your preferred skin, and the wizard will offer to install the Full or Lite version of the demo content.

multifunctional WordPress theme

Lite Version

The lite version makes the theme installation easy on shared or less expensive servers, and those whose configurations don't meet the minimum requirements of WordPress. Lite install provides only must-have functionality so that the skin could work properly and load faster. For example, if you choose a hotel skin, the wizard will install the plugin for hotel booking. But it will skip dozens of post types and other plugins less significant for that skin.

In the lite version, the default skin will differ a lot from its equivalent in the full install. There will be no third-party plugins such as MotoPress and WooCommerce, i.e. non-Cherry plugins. It will keep your site free from getting overloaded when you're using some less expensive host. If you need some of those plugins, though, you can add them manually via a content importer.

Full Version

Compared to the lite version, the full one provides more pages, posts, and everything you can see in the demo. Use it if you need the entire functionality of demo theme. This version is perfect for dedicated servers, VPS servers, and premium shared hosting plans (unless you're a fan of error 500).

Choose a version that fits your needs, and the wizard will automatically install everything the skin contains.

Tweak the Theme in Live Customizer

In Monstroid 2, we've replaced the theme options panel with Live Customizer. It provides a much easier experience for users than the options panel, or anything else you were using to tweak your website. In its WYSIWYG interface, you can customize anything from the logo, typography, and colors to widgets, navigation, and social links.

What’s advantageous about the customizer is the possibility to preview all the changes at once, live. There’s no need to reload the interface each time you want to check out a new change.

Here are all the settings you can tweak via the customizer:

multifunctional WordPress theme

The customizer features an export/import option. It will let you save the changes you have made to the skin while customizing it. Exporting your settings is necessary useful if you're building a website for your client and he asked you to build a new skin.

Wrap Your Content up in Any Skin with TM Style Switcher

In addition to the Customizer, Monstroid 2 has a cool tool for advanced users, TM Style Switcher. It will come in handy in those cases when you like the visual design of the skin, but don’t need its specific functionality.

For example, you liked the look of the restaurant skin, but want to use it for another purpose, let's say, a recipe blog. It means you don’t need to load your site with its restaurant menu plugin and other content. In this case, go to the switcher interface and choose the necessary preset style. All of its stylistic options will load without the content. It will remain the same as it was before. What’s especially cool is that this tool enables you to back up your temporary settings.

Create Complex Layouts with Power Page Builder

Monstroid 2 has Power Page Builder on board, which is good for both professional developers and non-tech savvies. This advanced tool lets users design unique layouts in a drag-and-drop interface with multiple options, content modules, and settings.

There are two sections to structure the layout: standard and specialty. In the standard one, you can choose the right arrangement of columns for your page.

multifunctional WordPress theme

The specialty section is designed for those who need a more complex layout. You can insert extra rows into one of the columns.

multifunctional WordPress theme

Power Builder comes with 25+ customizable content modules. They will let you fill the layout columns with various types of content. It can be anything from accordions and tabs to blurbs and video sliders. Here’s a full list of Power Builder content modules:

multifunctional WordPress theme

You don’t have to use the layouts you build straight away. You can save them to a library and load them whenever you need.

Embrace Various Niches with Pre-designed Skins

As was mentioned above, this multifunctional WordPress theme comes packed with ten skins (1 default and 9 for specific niches). They fit most popular industries including business, law, finance, fashion, food, hotel, furniture, construction, and sport.

multifunctional WordPress theme

The skins are more than just a beautiful cover to wrap up your site in. Besides a visual composition, they are equipped functionally from the inside. Each skin has a built-in tool to fit the basic needs of people involved in its target niche. It can be anything from an appointment manager (business skin) to a booking form (hotel skin).

Note that these skins are not child themes. Monstroid 2 is a single WP theme that comes with everything you need for work.

Stay Diverse with 7 Homepage Designs

Since every business has its needs, we created the homepage in seven versions. Whether you need a creative design or a minimal one, a commercial or personal design, you can find it in the theme package.

Choose from Multiple Header and Footer Styles

Monstroid 2 comes packed with seven header and three footer styles. Not only can you choose the one you like from such a variety, but you can also use different styles on different custom pages via the customizer. All of its options are accessible on each page. So, feel free to experiment any way you can imagine. No limits at all.

multifunctional WordPress theme

Your homepage can have a content-rich header with menu items, social links, contacts, working hours, account options, etc, whereas a contact page can have a minimalist one with menu items hidden under the burger icon. The same goes for the footer - different pages can have different styles.

Feel the Power of 20+ WordPress Plugins

Regarding functionality, Monstroid 2 includes over 20 WordPress plugins. TemplateMonster developed most of them as an open-source product and accessible at wordpress.org. There are also MotoPress plugins for advanced purposes. You are free to use any plugin packed into Monstroid 2 outside of the theme. It’s a great opportunity to upgrade your other WP projects.

MotoPress Hotel Booking

This WordPress plugin provides everything you need to manage hotel sites. You can present each room type with its capacity, bed size, available facilities, description, featured image or entire gallery, etc. Configurations let you set minimum and maximum periods to stay at your hotel.

To book a room, visitors can specify their check-in and check-out dates, the number of adults and kids. All the bookings are shown in a calendar, where you can sort them by the room type, period, and status. To interact with visitors, you can send them email notifications with their booking details, status, possible cancellation, etc.

multifunctional WordPress theme

The tool gives you full control over pricing. You can set different prices for different periods. For example, accommodation can cost more in high season than in late season. The price for the same room type can also vary based on its facilities (double room, double room with jacuzzi, double room with cable TV, etc.)

MotoPress Restaurant Menu

With this WP plugin, you can create restaurant menus and sell food online thanks to eCommerce integration. Shortcodes allow you to add menus to your website pages, posts, and sidebars with ease.

The plugin comes with different pre-defined layouts, e.g. grid and list. You can organize meals into categories and label them with icons. Each menu item is shown with various details including a title, price, nutrition data, ingredients, weight, description, and image or gallery.

multifunctional WordPress theme

Both registered and unregistered visitors can buy food on your site and pay for it via PayPal or Cash on Delivery. They can also track the order status, i.e. cooking, shipping, etc. There are customizable templates to send a confirmation or other notifications to both buyers and admins.

MotoPress Schedule

MotoPress Schedule is a versatile solution to create online schedules for different types of events. You can give each event a title, time and other details, set a featured image and even link it to any external site.

multifunctional WordPress theme

The plugin is easy for both admins to manage at the back end and website visitors to use at the front-end. Thanks to filters, visitors can view only those events they’re interested in. There are several filter styles such as tabs and a drop-down list. You can also mark different events with various colors to make them noticeable at once. That way, visitors won’t even need to use filters to find what they need.

The Events Calendar

This feature-rich plugin will help you create and manage a calendar of events with ease. It runs on Ajax, which provides a smooth browsing experience. Visitors can view all your events in a month, day or list view mode. For even easier experience, they can also use a built-in search and check out the upcoming events in a widget.

Compatibility + Ready-Made Designs for Third-Party Plugins

Not only is Monstroid 2 compatible with bbPress and BuddyPress, but it also has pre-designed pages for these tools. It means you don’t have to design anything from scratch. Just install the plugins and use them immediately. As the pages match the overall theme aesthetics, they will be a single whole with the rest of your site.

Sell Online due to Full Integration with WooCommerce

Since WooCommerce is fully integrated into Monstroid 2, you can get a fully-fledged store out of the box. There are pre-designed store layouts and functionalities, making the shopping experience much easier. For example, customers will find product compare and wishlist features helpful.

multifunctional WordPress theme

The theme comes packed with eCommerce widgets for various purposes. They let you show discounts in a banner grid, ease navigation with an extra sidebar menu, present product categories with thumbnails, arrange multiple items in carousels and more. There’s also a widget to add a section with the basic store info to any page. What’s especially cool is you won’t have to edit the page body for any of this.

Find Answers in FAQ Video

In addition to detailed documentation, the theme has a video with answers to frequently asked questions. Now, you can not only read the guidance but also view and listen to it. We do our best to make your experience better than ever before.

  1. Although Monstroid 2 appears to be a great improvement over Monstroid, the “Wizard” mentioned above and the install process is ten times worse.

I find a lot of the wording in this post offensive. Calling out hosting companies on having “cheap servers” and “cheap host”, yet Template Monster recommends Blue Host. A company who’s servers are constantly exploited, and the source of malicious attacks towards others.

The Wizard FORCES you to install a sample data set, which riddles your database with garbage you will never use and can not fully delete.

This so called Wizard only installs the “included” plugins that it guesses you should be using with one of nine “groupings”. There is no, let the end user select what plugins we need. There is not even a place where it tells you which plug-ins are available.

Yes there is that little list on the web site of the 20 or so plugins that are included, yet many of them have “support” or “accompanying” plug-ins that are needed that are not mentioned anywhere.

Once I purchased my “copy” of Monstroid 2, of which I manually installed to avoid that entire Wizard junk, I discovered from logging into the Template Monster website that now unbenounst to anyone, we have to pay an additional $99.00 every 6 months to obtain updates. That is $198 per year or no updates! There is no clear answer on if we even get any included “update period” with our purchase.

I am a BIG fan of Monstroid, and am already working on switching many sites over to Monstroid 2, since from what I have seen it is an awesome product!

However the installation “wizard” is a complete and utter bust! A huge step backwards from the buggy one that came with Monstroid that constantly crashed.

    Summery!

Monstroid 2 – INCREDIBLE Product! Must have for any serious person working in WordPress. However toss the Wizard and the Dashboard in the garbage and manually install it to keep your site clean and not full of “cheap sample data”.

TIP: You have unlimited installs. Install a “demo” or “training” server with the same data, so you can quickly learn how to use Monstroid 2, then manually install your actual real project!

    1. Hello, John. Thank you for your interest in Monstroid 2 and your feedback on it. We respect your opinion and appreciate the time you spent to express it, but there must be some misunderstanding…

All the UPDATES you’ll get for Monstroid 2 will be TOTALLY FREE. Where did you find the info about the need to pay every 6 months to access them? Could you provide a screenshot, please?

All the plugins packed into Monstroid 2 work without any “accompanying plug-ins.” You don’t need to install anything else. The wizard is smart enough to understand what plugins you need for a specific skin. Even if it doesn’t install anything, you can always add it manually.

The reason why we came up with the lite version is that some of our customers had issues with installing themes on some servers. We wanted to make installation possible anywhere for everyone.

In fact, there are a few ways you can install Monstroid 2. One requires the wizard and all of its stuff, which is perfect for newbies. The other one is manual, which is perfect for someone who’s more technically advanced like you, John. In the theme archive, you can access a folder “Manual Install.”

The wizard installs a lot of stuff, since it gives a better understanding of how many features you get. But if you don’t need that, simply upload monstroid2. zip and go to the website settings.

  2. Interesting. It looks like Nick censors his comments. Since he erased a huge one I posted as a reply to his reply. Correcting him on several points. Is that was Nick’s reviews are about? Censoring comments?

    1. It’s called premoderation, Disqus hides comments that contain links, or something that resembles links. You’ve added the names of the archives with .zip extensions and Disqus rendered these as links. That’s why your comment was pending. It got nothing to do with Nick’s “censoring”.

      1. Alexander, THANK YOU!!!! I am just venturing onto Disqus, so I will be more careful in the future in my quotes as to not trigger the check for links. 🙂

  3. Hi John,

If you install a specific skin and it lacks the plugin you need, you can add it manually. All the plugins are available in the package and integrated into the theme besides open-source plugins that you can access on wordpress. org at any time. MotoPress Tools Integrator, Power Builder Integrator and WooCommerce Ajax Filters are packed into the theme. You don’t need to look for them elsewhere.

The dashboard asks your invoice number to update the theme automatically and make sure you’re a valid customer. But manual update is also possible if you find it more comfortable. All you need is to download the latest theme version via your TemplateMonster account and update the theme manually.

Thank you very much for your feedback, John. We’ll take your remarks into account when developing our products. Could you provide a screenshot, where you see a request to pay for updates, please. It will help us fix the problem and prevent any possible confusion in future.

    1. Hi Nick,

I must correct you again. 🙂

There was 3 plugins missing from the manual-install section of the download, of which after talking to support they are not being added.

Nick, truly, with the utmost respect, I am not looking for support from you here, since clearly you don’t use the product, you have only looked at it on the surface.

I also never said you needed to look elsewhere for the 2 plugins you mentioned. I said to an average person, they would not know that those are needed, since they “accompany” and/or are required by other plugins.

As to updates, you can not just manually download a version from your TemplateMonster account, since the links expire after 72 hours, so you have to constantly request for them to be re-activated.

I personally have a person on the support desk with whom arranges for copies to get to me.

The Dashboard does NOT keep your site up to date. For example I started with Monstoid on version 1.1.2. Very shortly there after they released the 1.1.3 update. Since then to the average user, nothing. However I from obtaining and keeping on top of it through support tickets have received 4 separate versions of 1.1.3. All which fix critical bugs, but because the development team does not consider it enough of a change, there is no release of a 1.1.4.

The Dashboard only works if the development team is cooperating and actually releasing new versions.

The whole point to my commenting in the first place, is if there is a “Wizard” it should have a mode in which we can select which plugins we want. What if the system suddenly starts to support new additional features and it is missed in the manual download again? Mistakes happen. Using the Wizard would avoid this.

Additionally why force us to install a skin? One is not needed. This is also not the place to debate the merits of a skin, since there are reasons for one.

Just so you know, the powers that be at TemplateMonster have already been in contact with me through email and have listened! They have shared that there is a new version of the Wizard in the works that will allow you to skip any skin preload via a “Recommended” or “”Expert” mode. Additionally in expert mode it will allow us to select which plugins we may wish to use for this site/project.

Nick, so just these 2 little blog replies have had a very positive result, as long as they carry through with their commitment to do this.

THAT is why I write these replies. Not for me to complain, but to help others, since if I am having this challenge may other are as well, that are simply not speaking up, for fear of the response.

So I thank you for allowing me to use your post to get the attention of the right people at TemplateMonster to initiate positive change.

      1. Thank you for being so persistent in sharing ideas of how to make Monstroid 2 better. We do our best to polish our products and provide not only value, but also comfort for users. That’s why your comments are always welcome. And the first portion of updates is soon to come, so stay tuned.) I also must confess I didn’t know about the missing plugins. Sorry for confusion or any inconvenience.

  4. My experience so far has been lacklustre – I bought this thinking it would overcome the issues I found with Monstroid version 1 – but the newer product so far seems to be almost as clunky and riddled with just as many bugs, and very basic formatting aspects that can’t be adjusted without code (the main selling point is that this theme is supposed to code free).

The theme is very slow even on one of the most recommended WordPress hosts (Inmotion Hosting) – much slower in than other WordPress sites I have running there, using even free themes.

Support, though ‘free’ is patchy – some people seem to know what they are doing, but English appears to be a second language for most, and explaining issues is painful – as is the delay while each issue is looked into and eventually escalated, and the response that comes back a day or two later demonstrating they have missed the point, yet again.

With any question involving more than one issue, only one issue ever seems to get responded to (if that), forcing me to repeat the rest again and again. Some issues eventually appear to have no solution that support can offer, and I would apparently need to pay somene to fix them.

So frustrating – would not recommend to anybody
