This tutorial is going to show you how to to add new languages to your site running Drupal 7 and manage translations.<\/p>\r\n

In order to add a new language:<\/p>\r\n

1)<\/strong> Go to http:\/\/localize.drupal.org<\/a>. Under “Quick Navigation” -> Pick a language select the language you want to add to your site and click Go there<\/strong>. <\/p>\r\n

2)<\/strong> On the download page scroll down to Top Downloads -> Drupal Core and click on Download next to Drupal 7 in the table. Save the translation file on your computer.<\/p>\r\n

3)<\/strong> On the same page, under the Further top projects<\/strong> you can also download the translations for different Drupal modules, if needed.<\/p>\r\n

4)<\/strong> Log into your Drupal admin panel and make sure that the Locale (core) module is enabled under the Modules menu.<\/p>\r\n

5)<\/strong> Go to Configuration <\/strong>-><\/strong> Languages<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

6)<\/strong> Click on Add language <\/strong>and select the language you are going to install from the list of Predefined languages.<\/p>\r\n

7)<\/strong> Click Add language<\/strong>. Once the language is added, you will see the a confirmation message.<\/p>\r\n

8)<\/strong> On the same page (Configuration-> Languages<\/strong>) check the option next to the new language in the “Default” column if you are going to make this language default. <\/p>\r\n

9)<\/strong> Click “Save Configuration”.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

11)<\/strong> Go to the Configuration <\/strong>top menu and click Translate<\/strong> interface under the Regional and language<\/strong> section.<\/p>\r\n

On the next page, click the Import tab. <\/strong> <\/p>\r\n

12)<\/strong> On the Translate Interface page, click Browse <\/strong>under Import Translation -> Language file<\/strong> and navigate to the translation file downloaded from http:\/\/localize.drupal.org<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n

13)<\/strong> Make sure that the same language is selected in the Import into<\/strong> drop-down box, Built-in interface <\/strong>is checked underText group<\/strong> and Existing strings and the plural format are kept, only new strings are added<\/strong> is selected under Mode<\/strong>. Then click Import<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

14)<\/strong> Once the importing process is over, and you have selected your new language as default in point 8 of this article, your Drupal interface language will be changed to the language you installed.<\/p>\r\n

15)<\/strong> In case, some of your text is still not translated after that, you can do that manually. Click Translate<\/strong> under Configuration > Translate interface<\/strong> and look for the parts that still need to be translated.<\/p>\r\n
