How to enable and use SEF URLs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\r\n<p>Joomla is using non user and search engines friendly URLs by default.<\/p>\r\n<p>E.g.: http:\/\/domain.tld\/index.php?option=com_k2&#038;view=itemlist&#038;layout=category&#038;task=&#038;id=&#038;Itemid=117<\/p>\r\n<p>Its hard to remember such URL<\/p>\r\n<p>Login to your Joomla admin panel and navigate to <strong>Site menu -> Global Configuration<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_1-300x148.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"joomla_seo_urls_1\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25025\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_1-300x148.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_1-150x74.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_1.jpg 577w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>You should see the following options on the right:<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_2-300x124.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"joomla_seo_urls_2\" width=\"300\" height=\"124\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25026\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_2-300x124.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_2-150x62.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_2-1024x424.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/joomla_seo_urls_2.jpg 1107w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>1. <strong>Search Engine Friendly URLs<\/strong> &#8211; set it to <strong>Yes<\/strong> to use search and user friendly URLs. The URLs will change to something similar to http:\/\/domain.tld\/index.php\/blog<\/p>\r\n<p>2. <strong>Use URL rewriting<\/strong> &#8211; this options allows to remove index.php from the URL. Please note that the option is available if you are using <strong>Apache<\/strong> or <strong>IIS 7<\/strong> web server only. Please contact your hosting provider and ask them which web server they are using.<\/p>\r\n<p>If you are using <strong>Apache<\/strong> web server you should ask your hosting whether <strong>mod_rewrite<\/strong> is installed and enabled on your hosting account. Then you should connect via FTP to your domain, search for <strong>htaccess.txt<\/strong> file and rename it to <strong>.htaccess<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>If you are using <strong>IIS 7<\/strong> web server you should ask your hosting provider whether <strong>IIS URL Rewrite Module<\/strong> is enabled for your account. Then you should connect via FTP to your domain, search for <strong>web.config.txt<\/strong> file and rename it to <strong>web.config<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>The URLs will change to something similar to http:\/\/domain.tld\/blog<\/p>\r\n<p>3. <strong>Adds Suffix to URL<\/strong> &#8211; option will add <strong>.html<\/strong> at the end of URL. E.g. http:\/\/domain.tld\/blog.html<\/p>\r\n<p>To manage <strong>aliases<\/strong> for the pages, articles, categories, K2 items or categories you should edit them and change the <strong>Alias<\/strong> field value.<\/p>\r\n<p>Feel free to check the detailed video tutorial below:<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"\/help\/files\/Joomla\/joomla_seo_urls.htm\" target=\"blank\">Joomla 2.5.x.
