Joomla 3.x. Automatic engine update<\/a><\/p>\r\n

Prior to updating your Joomla engine, we strongly recommend that you review the system requirements and make sure that your server environment meets those requirements: Technical requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n

Log into Joomla Administrator panel and navigate to System >> System Information<\/strong> tab to check current Joomla version.<\/p>\r\n

Make sure you backed up a database and files prior to installing Joomla Update Package.<\/p>\r\n

Please check the following tutorial on how to backup a database: phpMyAdmin. How to backup a database <\/a><\/p>\r\n

NOTE: it is important to disable Remember Me<\/strong> Plugin prior to installing Joomla Update Package.<\/p>\r\n

Go to Extensions >> Plugin Manager<\/strong>, search for Remember Me<\/strong> Plugin and disable it.<\/p>\r\n

Once you’ve created a file and database backup and disabled Remember Me<\/strong> Plugin, you may proceed with Joomla Update Package Installation.<\/p>\r\n

Joomla will automatically check for an update and you may see information in System >> Control Panel<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

To proceed with update, please click on the Update Now<\/strong> button.<\/p>\r\n

You may receive the following error message after the update: “Warning: Refresh Manifest Cache failed: Extension is not currently installed”<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

This is nothing overly serious. In order to fix it, go back to Extensions >> Plugin Manager<\/strong> to activate Remember Me<\/strong> Plugin, then go to Extensions >> Extension Manager >> Database<\/strong> and click FIX<\/strong> button.<\/p>\r\n

Navigate to System >> Control Panel<\/strong> to see whether your Joomla engine is up-to-date.<\/p>\r\n

If you see the update notice, proceed with update following the same steps:<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  1. Disable Remember Me<\/strong> Plugin.<\/li>\r\n
  2. Update Joomla engine.<\/li>\r\n
  3. Enable Plugin back and Fix<\/strong> database in Extensions >> Extension Manager >> Database<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
