This tutorial shows how to add a new category (collection) in Shopify.<\/p>\r\n

In order to add a new category (collection), you should perform the following:<\/p>\r\n

Step 1. Log into your Shopify admin panel.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Step 2. Navigate to Collections – Add a Collection:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Step 3. Fill in the ‘Collection details’ section:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

    Specify the Title<\/strong> for your new Collection.\r\n <\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  2. \r\n

    Specify its Description<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  3. \r\n

    To add an image to the collection, please click ‘Choose Image’<\/strong> under the Featured Image<\/strong> field on the left and select the image from your PC:<\/p>\r\n

    Step 4. Fill in the ‘Conditions’ section for your new collection.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

    In this section you can choose either to ‘Manually select products (you will be able to select products on the next page)’<\/strong> or ‘Automatically select products based on conditions’<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

    To add products manually, follow the steps below:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

    1. \r\n

      Click ‘Manually select products’<\/strong> option.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

    2. \r\n

      Proceed to filling the rest of the sections for your new Collection –‘Search Engines’<\/strong>, ‘Visibility’<\/strong> sections. (refer to steps 5,6 from this tutorial for more details on these sections).<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

    3. \r\n

      With that done click ‘Save Collection’<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n

      You will see the ‘Products’<\/strong> section on the left. Unfold the ‘Add Products’<\/strong> button and select the products<\/strong> you would like to add to your New Collection. <\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

    5. \r\n

      With that done click ‘Save’<\/strong> button at the bottom right:<\/p>\r\n

      To add products automatically, follow the steps below:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

      1. \r\n

        Select the ‘Automatically select products based on conditions’<\/strong> option.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

      2. \r\n

        Select the condition from the list such as Product Title<\/strong>, Product Type<\/strong>, Product Vendor<\/strong>, etc. and fill in the next blank field with the corresponding title, type or vendor, etc. for the product you want to add to the new Collection.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

      3. \r\n

        If you want to add more than 1 product to the collection, click ‘Add another Condition’<\/strong> button:<\/p>\r\n

        Proceed to filling the rest of the sections for your new Collection -‘Search Engines’<\/strong>, ‘Visibility’<\/strong> sections. (refer to steps 5,6 from this tutorial for more details on these sections).<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

        With that done click ‘Save Collection’<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        Step 5. Fill in the Search Engines fields for the Collection.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

        You will see that the Page title<\/strong>, Meta description<\/strong> and URL and Handle<\/strong> boxes already contain some information. It was automatically generated based on the entries you’ve made in the Collection details section earlier. You can change the Page title and Meta description to refine the way the collection is shown in search results.<\/p>\r\n

        Note: Make sure not to make any changes to the ‘URL and handle’ field:<\/p>\r\n

        Step 6. Choose options in the ‘Visibility’ section on the page.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

          You can set the new Collection to ‘Visible’<\/strong> or ‘Hidden’<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

        2. \r\n

          You can also set a specific publish date<\/strong> (known as future publishing) for online collections if you don’t want your collection to appear on your website immediately<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

          Step 7. Click ‘Save Collection’ button at the bottom right<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n
