This tutorial shows how to set default frontend\/backend language in OpenCart 2.x.<\/p>\r\n

OpenCart 2.x. How to install a new language and set default frontend\/backend language<\/a><\/p>\r\n

In order to set the default frontend\/backend language, you should perform the following:<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  1. \r\n

    Navigate to OpenCart Official site<\/a> and download the translation<\/strong> you need for your site.<\/p>\r\n

    You can use the Extension Filter<\/strong> for the Quick Search<\/strong> on the page. Make sure to choose the language extensions for the version<\/strong> your template is compatible with (in our case this is OpenCart 2.x):<\/p>\r\n

  2. \r\n

    Extract<\/strong> the archive file of the language pack you have downloaded into your PC.<\/p>\r\n

    Please refer to this tutorial<\/a> if you are on Windows<\/strong>. If you are on a Mac<\/strong> please use the following one<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  3. \r\n

    Upload the ‘admin’<\/strong> and ‘catalog’<\/strong> folders from the extracted language pack archive to the main OpenCart folder on your hosting account.<\/p>\r\n

    Please refer to this video tutorial<\/a> on uploading files into the server<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  4. \r\n

    Log into your OpenCart admin panel<\/strong> with your admin credentials, navigate to System -> Localizations -> Languages<\/strong> and click ‘Add New’<\/strong> button. Fill in the fields:<\/p>\r\n

    In order to get all language pack info<\/strong> for filling the fields in System -> Localizations -> Languages -> ‘Add New’<\/strong>, please check the ReadMe text file<\/strong> included into the language pack archive you have downloaded or check the Documentation tab<\/strong> on the language package download page:<\/p>\r\n

    As soon as the form is completed, click the ‘Save’<\/strong> button at the top right. The new language pack is now installed.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  7. \r\n

    To change the default language<\/strong> for your store front-end and back-end<\/strong>, navigate to System -> Settings – ‘Edit’<\/strong> in your admin.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  8. \r\n

    Select the ‘Local’ tab<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

    – The ‘Language’<\/strong> field is for the front-end default language<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

    – The Administration Language<\/strong> is the administrator panel language (the back-end<\/strong>):<\/p>\r\n

    Select the new language you have installed and click the ‘Save’<\/strong> button at the top right.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
