  1. Open your website root directory, create a php file mod_rewrite.php<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\"how_to_check__mod_rewrite_enabled_1\"<\/a>\r\n<\/li>\r\n

  2. Add the following line of code to it:<\/p>\r\n\t 

    \r\n\t\t <?php echo \"Mod_rewrite is activated!\"; ?>\r\n\t\t <\/pre>\r\n\t\r\n\"how_to_check__mod_rewrite_enabled_2\"<\/a>\r\n\t<\/li>\r\n\t 
  3. Create .htaccess<\/strong> file (rename the original file to .htacess_original<\/strong> if you have it):<\/p>\r\n\r\n\"how_to_check__mod_rewrite_enabled_3\"<\/a>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t 
  4. Add the following content to the file:<\/p>\r\n\t     
    \r\n\t\t RewriteEngine On\r\n         RewriteRule ^.*$ mod_rewrite.php\r\n\t\t <\/pre>\r\n\r\n\"how_to_check__mod_rewrite_enabled_4\"<\/a>\r\n\t <\/li>\r\n\t 
  5. Open your site. If you see a message “Mod_rewrite is activated!”, it is enabled on your server. If you see anything else – mod_rewrite<\/strong> is disabled.<\/p><\/li>\r\n     
  6. Make sure to delete the .htaccess<\/strong> file you created and rename the original file back:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\"how_to_check__mod_rewrite_enabled_5\"<\/a>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t<\/ol>\r\n
