{"id":7792,"date":"2011-04-04T05:25:21","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T09:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/info.template-help.com\/?p=7792"},"modified":"2017-07-19T06:31:24","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T10:31:24","slug":"how-to-manage-user-roles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/help\/how-to-manage-user-roles.html","title":{"rendered":"How to manage user roles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\n<p>WordPress uses a concept of User Roles, designed to give the blog owner the ability to control and assign what users can and cannot do in the blog. <\/p>\r\n<p>A blog owner can manage and allow access to such functions as <\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"list\">\r\n<li>writing and editing posts<\/li>\r\n<li>creating Pages<\/li>\r\n<li>defining links<\/li>\r\n<li>creating categories<\/li>\r\n<li>moderating comments<\/li>\r\n<li>managing plugins<\/li>\r\n<li>managing themes<\/li>\r\n<li>managing other users.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<div class=\"inline-banner\">\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.templatemonster.com\/service-center\/\">\r\n<img src=\"\/help\/files\/banners\/inline\/Banner-3-(835-x100).jpg\" \/>\r\n<\/a>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<h3>Roles Description<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>  <strong>Super Admin<\/strong> &#8211; Someone with access to the blog network administration features controlling the entire network (See Create a Network). <\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Administrator<\/strong> &#8211; Somebody who has access to all the administration features <\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Editor <\/strong>&#8211; Somebody who can publish and manage posts and pages as well as manage other users&#8217; posts, etc. <\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Author <\/strong>&#8211; Somebody who can publish and manage their own posts <\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Contributor<\/strong> &#8211; Somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish them <\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Subscriber<\/strong> &#8211; Somebody who can only manage their profile <\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Setting User Roles<\/h3>\r\n<p>To set the user roles open the WordPress admin panel, go to <strong>Users<\/strong> tab.
