Fortunatamente, entrando in chat e parlando con un operatore, sono riuscito a risolvere. Ho dovuto prima scaricare e installare la versione 1.7.1 di Magento, ho poi installato correttamente e senza errori il tema, e infine ho aggiornato Magento all'ultima release.
