parallax
August 27, 2015
Parallax is the shift in position of an object caused by your own motion. For instance, if you look at some nearby object and move your head a little from side to side, the object looks like it is moving back and forth. Another way to experience this phenomenon is to simply cover one eye and focus on an object. Then move the cover to the other eye. The object will appear to move, because each eye provides a different viewing angle (check the screenshot below):

The parallax effect has been around for years in classic video games, but it became a trend in the web design world relatively recently. This cool effect is now commonly seen as part of the scrolling feature of a web page. It uses multiple backgrounds which seem to move at different speeds to create a sensation of depth (creating a faux-3D effect) and an interesting browsing experience.
The best examples of websites that use the scrolling parallax effect you can check at the following link.
Most of TemplateMonster templates beginning from #50895 version use parallax effect. You can check the full templates collection here: https://www.templatemonster.com/properties/animation/parallax.
