CGI

CGI is abbreviation of Common Gateway Interface, it is widely used to transfer information between a World Wide Web server and a CGI program.

Basically Any type of a program that is devised to accept and return data that conforms to the CGI specification is considered a CGI one.

One can contemplate a CGI program in action while filling out a form on the Internet. Once the form is sent, a confirmation message appears meaning the CGI program has returned the data back.
