Plugin is an additional software component that allows implementing additional customization of the site. Any plugin should be downloaded separately and then installed to the site. Following specific instructions on the plugin configuration, you will apply some extra options.

Plugins are used foremost within WordPress and Joomla templates. In WordPress you can find them under the Dashboard > Plugins section:

In Joomla, plugins are located under the Extensions > Plugin Manager section:

Plugins solve a specific problem and therefore might be used for different purposes, for example, to extend existing possibilities of the site; to enable new features; to apply recently incompatible options avoiding the code, and so on.
