Screenshot is the word used to describe the action of capturing your computer desktop or anything shown on your computer screen to a static image file. In other words, it is a way of taking a snapshot, or picture, of your computer screen. Some people also call it a screengrab. For example, below you can see a screenshot of some settings in the site admin panel:

Screenshots can be very helpful when you need to demonstrate something that would be difficult to explain in words. Here are just a few examples of situations where a screen shot can be useful and why:

1. In template reviews, to show what the template looks like.

2. In template tutorials, to demonstrate how to perform a function.

3. In support team discussions with customers (via ticket system or chat), to show the issue or desired changes on the site.

There are 3 methods to take a screenshot:

1. Using keyboard (proper instructions you will find here).

2. Using an additional software, for example LightShot or Jing.

3. Using online screen capture, for example http://web-capture.net.
