static block

Static block is one of the skin elements in Magento that can be placed on one or multiple site pages. That is used to create layout elements with specific functionality. You can easily find them in site’s admin panel under CMS > Static blocks section:

Static blocks are displayed throughout the site; you can use them for social references, banners, sliders, size charts or anything else to make the content unique. One of the advantages using these blocks is a possibility to update the content easily and regularly via admin panel without extra modifications of the template core files.
