Store view is a lowest level of the store hierarchy represented in Magento eCommerce engine. Most Magento data, including categories and products, can be edited at this store view level. Store views are mostly used to handle different languages on your website. This means you can offer visitors different ways to browse your Magento website based on their location, while allowing for management of multiple websites and stores within one Magento installation.

You will typically have one store view per language. This way you can “showcase” the goods in the language more convenient for the client (if you are selling goods worldwide). For instance, you can have a store view in English for English speakers and another store view in Spanish for Spanish language speakers. This is how you could set up a multi-language store if you choose to.

With store views you can:

  • have the same root category for all store views;

  • set different prices depending on the store view;

  • assign different themes to each store view;

  • adjust the titles and descriptions of your categories and products;

  • adjust the naming conventions of your payment and shipping methods;

  • manage orders based upon their store view.
