Variation is a product attribute value in e-commerce sites. While attribute stands for a product feature like size, color, etc., variation is the color or size variable like black or white, L, XL, etc.

Product variation provides an opportunity to create product combination, e.g. white shirt of S size without creating new product. Site administrator doesn’t have to create new product for each color or size, all he/she has to do is to add new attributes variation to a product.
