WordPress. How to move website from subfolder to the root
May 26, 2016
This tutorial will show you how to move your WordPress-based website from sub-directory to root.
Access WordPress dashboard and go to Settings > General:
Change the URL of your website (change path if you move it to different folder on same domain name):
You will get the 404 error page. That’s normal. Proceed with the next step.
Connect to your FTP server or use hosting CPanel FileManager tool and move all the files to new directory:
Contact your hosting provider to get instructions on how to move files on your specific server;
Clear browser cache.
Open your website using new address to make sure it works properly.
