WordPress. How to manage social sharing icons

Our Support team is ready to present you a new tutorial that shows how to manage AddThis social sharing icons:


  1. Please navigate to wp-content/themes/CherryFramework/includes/post-formats folder on the server.

  2. The first thing that should be done, is to copy share-buttons.php from CherryFramework to themeXXXXX folder on the server, saving the files structure:


  3. Create new folders within the themeXXXXX directory if needed:


  4. Open the file for editing, you will see the sharing icons code:


  5. In order to delete one of the icons, you will need to remove the corresponding code section.

  6. Let’s remove the Pinterest icon. You will need to delete the Pinterest code section that starts with <li class="pinterest"> and ends with </li>:


  7. Save changes when you are done editing the file and check the result on your website.

  8. To change the icons order, you will need to change the order of sections in code. For example, we can move the Facebook icon to the last position by placing the Facebook code section that starts with <li class="facebook"> and ends with </li> after the current last icon code – google+ in our example.

  9. Save changes when you are done editing the file and check the result on your website.

  10. Lets add one more icon – Linkedin. Search “Linkedin Share” in the web.

  11. Open the share tools page, select the needed options for your icon and click on the Get Code button:


  12. Copy the code for the icon and add it to share-buttons.php within the themexxxx directory with the <li class="linkedin"> at the beginning and </li> at the end:


  13. Save changes to file when you are done, check the result on your website:
